Last updated: September 21, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Locked In mobile application, website, and related services. Locked In is operated by Jacob DeCoste (“Locked In,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

Important points

Topic What this means
Eligibility You must be at least 13 and legally able to agree to these Terms. Minors need parent or guardian permission where required.

Squads Information you choose to share may be visible to current squad members. Respect other members and keep invite codes secure.
Subscriptions Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically unless canceled through the marketplace. Account deletion does not cancel a subscription.
User content You keep ownership of your content and give us a limited license to operate and display it as the feature requires.
Rules No harassment, unlawful content, impersonation, exploitation, unauthorized access, or misuse of another person’s private information.

1 Eligibility and acceptance

You may use Locked In only if you are at least 13 years old, have not been barred from the service, and can form a binding agreement under applicable law. If you are under the age of legal majority, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has authorized your use where required. The service is not directed to children under 13.

If you use Locked In for an organization or on behalf of another legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the service.

2 The service

Locked In helps users create and track habits, routines, and goals; record check-ins and streaks; receive reminders; participate in squads and challenges; view progress; encourage other members; and access optional paid features. Features may change, be tested with limited users, or be discontinued.

We may establish reasonable limits on storage, squad size, invitations, notifications, challenges, or other features. We do not promise that any feature, streak, score, ranking, reminder, or notification will always be available or error-free.

3 Accounts and security

We may require verification, refuse registration, reclaim an account identifier, or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect the service or users.

4 Habits, wellness, and safety

Locked In is a self-management and social-accountability tool. It does not provide medical, mental-health, psychological, nutritional, fitness, addiction-treatment, or other professional advice. Content, reminders, streaks, and peer messages are general informational features and are not a diagnosis, treatment plan, or substitute for a qualified professional.

Use reasonable judgment and consider your health, environment, and abilities before beginning exercise, fasting, cold exposure, substance cessation, or another activity that could create risk. Stop and seek qualified help if an activity may be unsafe. Locked In is not monitored for emergencies. If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the United States, call 911 for emergencies or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

We do not guarantee that you will complete a goal, maintain a streak, change a behavior, or achieve any particular outcome.

5 Squads, visibility, and invitations

A squad is a shared accountability space. Current squad members may see information that the app identifies as shared, including display names, profile photos, shared commitments, check-ins, feed activity, nudges, reactions, requests for support, and leaderboard or challenge information. Personal Progress analytics and information marked private are not intended for squad display.

6 User content

“User Content” means information you submit or create through Locked In, including profile information, habit and routine names, notes, feedback, squad content, reactions, reports, images, and challenge activity. You retain ownership of your User Content.

You grant Locked In a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify for formatting or technical operation, transmit, and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and provide the service; honor your sharing choices; and comply with law. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for limited backup, legal, security, and de-identified uses.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit User Content and that our permitted use will not violate another person’s rights or applicable law.

7 Acceptable use

You may not use Locked In to:

8 Moderation, reports, and blocks

You can report content and block users using available tools. We may review reports, remove content, restrict sharing, invalidate invites, suspend accounts, or take other action when we reasonably believe these Terms, law, or user safety require it. We are not obligated to monitor all User Content and do not endorse content created by users.

We may preserve and disclose information where reasonably necessary to investigate misuse, respond to legal process, protect safety, or enforce these Terms.

9 Locked In Pro and purchases

Plans

Locked In may offer monthly, yearly, lifetime, trial, promotional, or other purchase options. Features, eligibility, price, billing period, and any trial terms are shown before purchase. “Lifetime” refers to access for the operational life of the applicable Locked In product and account; it does not guarantee that the service or every feature will exist forever.

Auto-renewal and cancellation

Monthly and yearly subscriptions automatically renew for the same period unless canceled through the applicable app marketplace before the renewal deadline shown by that marketplace. The marketplace charges your account at confirmation and renewal. You can manage or cancel through your Apple or Google account settings or the customer-management interface provided in the app.

Deleting your Locked In account or deleting the app does not cancel an active subscription. You must cancel through the marketplace. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period, and you retain access until then unless the marketplace states otherwise.

Pricing, taxes, and refunds

Prices may vary by country, currency, marketplace, and offer and may include or exclude taxes as displayed. We may change future prices as permitted by marketplace rules and applicable law. Apple or Google processes payment and controls refunds under its policies. Except where law or the marketplace requires otherwise, purchases are non-refundable. You may use Restore Purchases when available to restore qualifying entitlements.

10 Ownership and license

Locked In and its software, design, text, graphics, logos, interfaces, features, and other materials, excluding User Content, are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app and service for their intended purpose on devices you own or control.

You may not copy, sell, sublicense, distribute, publicly display, create derivative works from, reverse engineer, or exploit the service except as applicable law expressly permits notwithstanding this restriction.

11 Feedback

If you submit ideas, suggestions, or product feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use and incorporate that feedback without restriction or compensation. This does not transfer ownership of personal information or other User Content unrelated to the feedback.

12 Third-party services

Locked In relies on or links to third-party services, including app marketplaces, sign-in providers, Supabase, Expo, and RevenueCat. Their services may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

13 Suspension and termination

You may stop using Locked In at any time, leave a squad, or request account deletion through Profile. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or limit features if you materially or repeatedly violate these Terms; create risk or legal exposure; threaten service security; fail to pay applicable charges; or if we discontinue the service. Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, feedback, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute terms, and obligations relating to prior conduct.

14 Service changes and availability

We may update, test, modify, suspend, or discontinue features. The service may be unavailable because of maintenance, outages, provider failures, device limitations, network conditions, or events beyond our control. We are not responsible for missed reminders, notification delays, lost streaks, or decisions made based on app data. We may correct records when needed to address errors or abuse.

15 Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOCKED IN IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN DISCLAIMERS, SO SOME OF THESE TERMS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

16 Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOCKED IN AND ITS OWNER, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY; PERSONAL DECISIONS OR OUTCOMES; OR CONDUCT OF OTHER USERS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO LOCKED IN THROUGH THE APPLICABLE MARKETPLACE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) 100 U.S. DOLLARS. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT LEGALLY BE LIMITED.

17 Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Locked In and its owner, affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and licensors from third-party claims, damages, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the service, your User Content, or your material violation of these Terms or another person’s rights. This section does not require indemnification for our own unlawful conduct.

18 Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent consumer law in your place of residence requires otherwise. Before filing a claim, you and Locked In agree to try in good faith for 30 days to resolve it informally by emailing hello@lockedinapp.dev with a description of the issue and requested resolution.

If the dispute is not resolved, you agree that state and federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Either party may bring an eligible claim in small-claims court.

19 Additional terms for Apple users

If you downloaded Locked In from Apple’s App Store, these Terms are between you and Locked In, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, maintenance, support, warranties, product claims, or intellectual-property claims. Your license is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules, including permitted Family Sharing or volume-purchase use. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, as required by its terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce this section. You must also comply with applicable third-party terms and U.S. export and sanctions laws.

20 Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service, law, or business practices. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. Material changes apply prospectively. If you do not agree to updated Terms, stop using the service and cancel any subscription.

21 General terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Locked In regarding the service unless another written agreement applies. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or asset transfer. Headings are for convenience only.
